The release party was great, and I'm glad I went because it was just a cultural phenomenon that will never happen again, and I was thrilled to be a part of it. Not annoyed by lines and waiting - and it didn't seem that other people were, either. It was just a blast. Cynthia was a godsend - I don't know if I would have been able to do it without her. Certainly not the dressing up part. She sent me some pics, which I'll post here, and then I'll end with a couple of quotes I found about the books and JK Rowling that I think pretty eloquently say what I think is so great about the books. I will expound on the book itself in a few days when my dear friends rereading book 6 have then finished book 7. Then I will speak oh-so-freely.

“To create such an extraordinary world, fill it with complicated characters and convergent back stories is beyond the reach of most writers,” wrote the Los Angeles Times’ Mary McNamara.
“To sustain that world and grow those characters over seven books filled with plot twists, folklore and even a magical curriculum and then bring it all to an articulate, emotionally wrenching conclusion — that is a truly epic quest.”
"... more adeptly than any other popular fantasist, she has shown herself adept at using fantasy to address social issues that frame her readers' experience and doing so in ways that are well suited to her core readership. Her books imaginatively raise issues of gender equality, social class, race, media culture, the self-serving nature of many politicians, the potential flaws of justice systems and a host of other satiric targets."
