What a boon it is to be a teacher and save up your money enough to enjoy a summer off. True, summer nowadays is just two months, but - two months? That's a LOT of down time. And I am fully embracing it - in fact, today I am drinking slushy margaritas while hanging out at the pool all day. True, at this point in the summer, I'm already tan, so I slather on the 30 SPF and get in the pool every half hour to cool off - today, there is not a cloud to be seen, and I'm awaiting a visit from the 'rents in a day. YIKES. They come Saturday and leave TUESDAY. SO yeah, I'm a little stressed. What are we going to DO? No idea. Good lord. We don't just "hang" very easily together. And they're staying with me - which always adds to the stress factor. We do much better when they stay at a hotel - but NO. Since I have no roommate, they're going to stay with me this time, and I feel like I need to smoke an extra pack or so to get ready for the dearth of alone time I'm going to have, nonstop, for 3+ days. Ugh. I figure we can go see the Parthenon, go to the Carnton Plantation, see Evan Almighty, and go shopping a few times - my parents do love to shop.
I got an interview set up today - finally. At Brentwood Middle, and it's not for three weeks, so that's great, but I'm also wishing it were sooner so I could just KNOW. But yeah - that's not the way it works, people. So... we wait. I've got time to bone up on my reading strategies and writing methods-lingo. Would love to be at that school.
FRIENDS. Life is good. I had my Neighborhood Fellowship Group ladies over here Tuesday night for margs (hence, the leftovers today) and we had a great time, and from that, my new favorite person Allison O and I decided to start a book club, and I recently committed to another one, as well, with some Nashville ladies I don't know, my connection being from a friend at Brentwood High, so I'm now becoming super-social, and I'm finding that I kinda like it. Yeah. I'll update you on our books soon - suffice it to say that Amazon loves me and my random, impulsive tendencies during the summer months. I'm good business.
Later!
